Day One Publish is not currently available in Day One. We will continue to consider how to re-introduce the publish and sharing features into Day One. Currently we have no announcements or date on when these may become available.
What is Publish by Day One?
Publish enables you to handpick entries to share with family, friends, and the world. Publish creates an individual webpage on dayone.me for each entry you choose to publish.
Will anyone and everyone be able to see my entry when I publish it?
No. By default, you’re the only one that will know the URL for each published entry. If you want to share entries with a few select people, emailing, texting, or other direct methods of communicating the URL for your entries can be used. (Note: Sharing pages publicly via social media may cause those entries to be indexed by search engines.) In any of the above cases, it is entirely up to you how you want to share your entries.
How many people have seen my entry?
In Day One iOS, scroll to the bottom of published entries to see stats.
What platforms are supported?
At this time, Publish is available in Day One Classic on the iPhone and iPad.
Is Publish a free service?
Yes.
Why should I use Publish?
The biggest reason to use Publish is you’d like to share an entry in your journal with someone. In addition to this, Publish provides the following benefits above other sharing options:
Editable Entries
All entries can be edited and modified after they’ve been published. Feel free to fix typos, change location and date, and make other modifications to your entries.
Data Retention
Publish allows you to share and participate in multiple social networks, all the while keeping your source entry in a single location—your Day One journal. With this centralized, single source, you’re free to archive, print, and export your entries—even after you stop using a given social media service.
How do I share a link to a published entry (on Twitter and Facebook)?
There are a lot of different ways, but one of the easiest would be to:
- After publishing an entry, tap the Publish share row to view the published page on your device.
- Tap the share icon on the bottom right of the screen.
- Choose which method you’d like to use on the share sheet for sharing your Publish link.
Here is a screenshot showing the above process:

Why don’t my embedded images and videos appear in my published entries?
At this time, published entries do not display inline embedded images or video, but do include links to these visual assets.
Can I sort my published entries by tags?
Tags are included with published entries and are shown below the text as supplemental metadata. Future updates will utilize your tags for sorting and other functionality.
