Import and Export Day One JSON Now Available on the Web

Manage your journal entries with ease using new import and export tools.

With the latest release for Day One on the web, we’re introducing new tools importing and exporting your journals, simplifying subscription management, and addressing some fixes. Here’s what’s new.

Import and Export Your Journals

Managing your journal entries across devices just got easier! With the introduction of JSON Import and Export on the web, you now have more flexibility in backing up and restoring your journals. These tools provide you with full control over your journal data, making it easier to transfer, back up, or work with your entries outside the app.

Import Your Journals

Go to Settings → Import and select a .zip file containing your exported Day One JSON data. You’ll see the import progress and can pause it at any time if needed.

Export Your Journals

Navigate to Journal Settings → Export Journal to create a Day One JSON export. If your journal contains media that hasn’t been downloaded locally, you’ll be prompted to download it first. As with importing, you can monitor progress and pause the export process at any time.

Instagram Integration Removed

Meta has discontinued support for the Instagram API integration, and as a result, we’ve removed the functionality to create or edit Instagram connections in Day One. Rest assured, any journals that were previously connected to Instagram remain intact, and all your existing entries are fully preserved.

Enhanced Subscription Management

We’ve added more transparency and control to your subscription details. This makes managing your account easier and helps ensure your subscription details are always clear.

In Settings → Account → Subscription, you can now:

  • View the type of subscription you have.
  • Check if it’s set to auto-renew and the renewal price.
  • See the expiration date.
  • Identify and address any duplicate subscriptions.

Additional Improvements and Fixes

We’ve also addressed some smaller issues to improve your overall experience:

  • Markdown Fixes: Resolved an issue where the cursor would shift to the beginning of the line when applying inline markdown formatting to checklist items.
  • Login Page Update: The default logged-out page has been updated to direct you to the login screen for quicker access.

Capture life’s moments, anytime, anywhere.
