Some reflections are personal, but others are worth sharing. Whether you’re co-authoring a journal with family, documenting a group project, or reflecting together with friends, you can now access and edit entries in your Shared Journals seamlessly on your Mac.

To get access to the new update, you’ll need to be running Day One for Mac version 2025.6 or higher.
What’s New?
Bringing Shared Journals to Mac means a more seamless, collaborative experience across devices. This update introduces key improvements to how you access, organize, and contribute to your Shared Journals—right from your Mac. Here’s what’s new:
Shared Journals Now Appear in the Sidebar
Your Shared Journals now appear directly in the Mac app sidebar, right below your personal journals. Easily navigate between them and manage your entries with the same smooth experience you’re used to.
Edit and Organize Entries
You can now edit your own entries in Shared Journals and read entries from others. Stay connected with your shared journaling groups and make updates effortlessly.
Drag-and-Drop Functionality
- Reorder your Shared Journals in the sidebar with a simple drag-and-drop action.
- Move or copy entries between journals by dragging and dropping them into the right place.
Entry Move Confirmation
Moving an entry from a private journal to a shared one? A confirmation screen will notify you before finalizing the action, ensuring you stay in control of where your journal entries go.
What’s Not Included (Yet)?
While this update lays the foundation for full shared journaling on Mac, there are still some features in development:
- Creating new Shared Journals – You’ll need to create them on iOS for now.
- Inviting others to Shared Journals – Member management isn’t available on Mac yet.
- Comments and reactions – While you can read entries, commenting and reacting will come in a future update.
- Viewing member information – You can’t see participant details in Shared Journals just yet.
