1. What is Day One Labs?
Day One Labs is our early-access program where you can test experimental journaling features before they’re released broadly. By joining Day One Labs, you get exclusive access to new tools, tutorials, and direct feedback channels so you can help shape the future of Day One.
2. What information do you collect?
We ask only for your Day One account email, user ID, and preferred device. No additional personal data is collected.
3. What Day One Labs features are available?
Current Day One Labs features include:
– Go Deeper – Generate personalized and dynamic prompts in the editor based on what you’ve written, helping you reflect further and uncover new insights. Read the tutorial.
– AI Entry Summary – Generate a concise summary of your current journal entry directly in the entry editor. Read the tutorial. Read the tutorial.
– AI Multi Entry Summary – Open any date’s entries from different years and generate a single, cohesive summary of your journal entries for that date across all years. Read the tutorial.
– AI Image Generation – Generate custom images in the editor based on a journal entry’s content. Read the tutorial.
– Daily Chat – Chat with AI about your day, and your conversation can be turned into a thoughtful journal entry that reflects your words and mood.
4. Do I have to use these features?
Nope. All Labs features are 100% optional—you can enable or disable any of them at any time under Settings > Labs.
5. How is my privacy protected?
Each Day One Labs AI feature processes only the specific entry (or entries) you choose. Your text is encrypted in transit and never stored on our servers or used for model training. For full details, see our AI Features FAQ.
6. Is Day One Labs a Premium feature?
Yes, Day One Labs is only available to Premium users. Just note that we may modify or discontinue any Labs feature in the future after it’s released more broadly.
7. How can I share feedback or report bugs?
We’d love to hear from you! Tap the “Send Feedback” link in Settings > Labs, or share your feedback here. Every comment helps us improve.

9. What happens if I run into performance issues?

10. What if I decide to opt out of Labs after signing up?
At any point, you can toggle off all Labs features in Settings > Labs. If you’d like to end your participation in Day One Labs, please email us at support@dayoneapp.com.
