AI Image Generation is a new experimental feature for Day One. This feature uses AI to generate custom images in the editor based on a journal entry’s content.
This feature is exclusively available to users who have signed up through Day One Labs. Have questions? Check out the Day One AI FAQs.
How to Get Started
- Make sure you’ve signed up for Day One Labs using your active Day One user ID or account email address.
- Ensure you’ve updated to Day One Android version 2025.13 or higher.
- Once you’ve signed up for Labs, open Day One and navigate to Settings > Labs.
- Turn on the toggles for AI Features and AI Image Generation.
- Create a new journal entry or open an existing journal entry with content you’ve written.
- Tap the three dot menu in the top toolbar.
- Tap Create Entry Image.
- You can switch the style of the generated image.
- Click Insert to add the generated image to your entry.
Note: You can also customize the prompt used to create the image. Use the radio buttons to select from Entry text only, or select Entry text and prompt or Prompt only to input the prompt used to create the image.

- Ensure you’ve updated to Day One Android version 2025.12 or higher.
- Once you’ve signed up for Labs, open Day One and navigate to Settings > Labs.
- Turn on the toggles for AI Features and AI Image Generation.
- Create a new journal entry or open an existing journal entry with content you’ve written.
- With the cursor on the text, see the virtual keyboard toolbar with the AI icon (see blue arrow below). Tap on it to open the Journaling Tools menu.
- Tap Generate Image.
- Tapping on More Options tou can switch the style of the generated image.
- Click Insert to add the generated image to your entry.
