A New Journal Creation Flow

We’ve redesigned the journal creation experience in Day One to make it faster and more inspiring to start a new journal.

Version: 2025.11

Whether you’re organizing different areas of your life or just exploring new ways to journal, it’s now easier to begin. Starting in Day One version 2025.9 for iOS, creating a new journal is now more intuitive and inspiring.

You’ll now see a list of thoughtful name suggestions to help spark ideas—whether it’s a journal for travel, parenting, books, recipes, or a specific goal like marathon training. You can still customize the name, color, and icon, but if you’re not sure where to begin, we’ve made it easy to dive right into your next journal.

This update pairs beautifully with another change: all users can now create unlimited journals. Whether you’re on the free plan or Premium, you can now create as many personal and shared journals as you’d like. It’s a small change that opens up big possibilities for organizing your memories, goals, and everyday reflections.
