Entry Highlights

Requires Day One Gold. Entry Highlights is available with a Day One Gold subscription.

Entry Highlights uses AI to read your current journal entry and generate a concise set of bullet-point highlights — the key moments, decisions, feelings, and people from what you wrote. It’s a quick way to see the heart of an entry at a glance, or to add a summary right into your journal.

For details on how Day One handles your data when using AI features, see AI Features.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What if my entry is very short?

Entry Highlights works best with a few sentences or more. Very short entries may produce generic results — the more you’ve written, the more meaningful the highlights will be.

Can I edit the highlights after they’re added?

Yes. Once added to your entry, the highlights are just text — tap or click anywhere to edit them like any other part of your journal.

    What happened to Entry Summary?

Entry Highlights was previously called Entry Summary. It was renamed when the output format was updated to bullet points, making key moments easier to scan at a glance.

The highlights aren’t accurate. Can I try again?

Yes. Tap or click Retry to generate a new set of highlights from the same entry.

Is Entry Highlights available on Mac?

Not yet. It’s currently available on iPhone, iPad, Android, and the web.
