Entries missing in Day One Classic for macOS

If you are missing entries in Day One Classic while using iCloud to sync.

Note: Day One Classic has not been updated since March 2016. It has been retired. We strongly recommend updating to the current version of Day One. See here.

A new feature in macOS Sierra (10.12) enables users to save space locally by enabling “Optimize Mac Storage” in the iCloud settings.  This has caused some older entries in Day One that are synced with iCloud to disappear from the app.  Please try these steps to troubleshoot this issue.

  1. Quit Day One Classic.
  2. Open System Settings > Apple Account > iCloud.
  3. In the “Saved to iCloud” section, click See All.
  4. Click iCloud Drive.
  5. Toggle off the option for “Optimize Mac Storage”.
  6. On that same settings menu, click Apps syncing to iCloud Drive and make sure Day One Classic is toggled on in the list.

  1. Re-open and verify in Day One Classic that your older entries have returned.

If entries still do not appear in Day One, please verify the correct Apple ID is being used in System Preferences > Apple Account. If it is, try restarting the Mac and then opening Day One Classic one more time.
