Importing Data from Plain Text
Our MacOS app supports importing plain text files into Day One. Here's how to do that.
To import entries through Plain Text files you’ll want to make sure you follow the example we’ve provided below. It’s also important to note:
- Media cannot be imported via the Plain Text import.
- The option for Plain Text requires that each entry must have a date stamp.
- The date format needs to be the same format as your computer. For example, if your computer uses
dd/MM/yyyy HH:mmformat, you should follow it. - Our example below uses this format:
Date: June 24, 2016 at 10:59:06 AM MDT
- The date format needs to be the same format as your computer. For example, if your computer uses
- Location or weather are not required for importing.
- There must be two carriage returns between the end of one entry and the next date.
- There must be two carriage returns between the date and the entry.
