Multi-Entry Summary
Requires Day One Gold. Multi-Entry Summary is available with a Day One Gold subscription.
Multi-Entry Summary uses AI to read a group of your journal entries and produce a single, cohesive summary. Whether you select a handful of entries from a road trip or a year’s worth of reflections, the AI looks at the dates, locations, and content of each entry to surface patterns, themes, and meaningful highlights — then packages it all into a new entry you can keep.
For information on how Day One handles your data when you use AI features, see AI Features.

About the Saved Entry
When you tap Save to New Entry, Day One creates a new entry in your current journal with:
- An AI-generated title as the entry heading.
- The full summary text as the body.
- A note at the top of the entry showing how many entries were summarized, with a link that takes you back to all of those entries.
The entry is dated with the current date and time and is clearly marked as AI-generated in your journal.
Privacy & Security
When you generate a summary, the text content, dates, and locations of your selected entries are sent to Day One’s AI service to produce the result. Your data is not used to train AI models. For full details, see AI Features.
FAQ
Can I summarize entries from different journals at once?
Yes. You can select entries from multiple journals in the same multi-select session, and the summary will draw from all of them.
Can I regenerate the summary if I don’t like it?
Yes. Tap or click Dismiss (the X icon) to close the current summary, then tap Generate Summary again to create a new one.
Does the summary include photos or other attachments?
The AI summarizes the text content of your entries. It takes dates and locations into account when finding patterns, but photos, audio, and other attachments are not analyzed.
Where does the saved summary entry appear?
The new entry is created in your currently selected journal and appears in your timeline dated to today. It includes a link back to the original entries so you can always find them again.
Is Multi-Entry Summary available offline?
No. Generating a summary requires an active internet connection, as the AI processing happens on Day One’s servers.
