Journal Cover Image
Note: This is an experimental feature and may change or be removed in future.
Day One Android, Windows, and Web apps allow you to add a cover image to your journals, which will be displayed as a background in the header of your journal. Cover images added on Android will be visible on Web/Windows, and vice versa.
Journal Cover Images are not currently available on the iOS or macOS apps.
Journal Cover Images on Android
Adding a cover image
When viewing a journal, tap the 3 dots (‘kebab’) menu, then either “Select cover image” (to select an image from your media library) or “Take cover image” (to take a picture with your camera).
Select an image (or take a photo) and then crop the image to your liking. Tap the checkmark to save and you’ll see the new cover image behind the title of your journal.

Remove cover image
After adding a cover image, if you tap the 3 dots menu again, you’ll see a new Remove cover image option. Tap that to remove your cover image and the journal’s default colored header will be restored.
Journal Cover Images on the Windows/Web App
Adding a cover image
To add a cover image in the Windows/Web app, select a journal in the sidebar, then click on Edit Journal > Add Cover Image.

Select an image from your computer, and it will be used as your journal’s cover image. (Note: There is currently no cropping feature on the Windows/Web app).

Remove cover image
To remove the cover image, click on Edit Journal > Remove Cover Image.

Cover image dimensions
Note that the same cover image will be used across the Android, Web, and Windows app, so we suggest selecting an image that works well at various sizes and dimensions.
