Using the Apple Shortcuts App with Day One
How to use Shortcuts with Day One
This guide focuses on using Apple’s Shortcuts app to create powerful automations and workflows for Day One. This feature allows you to build custom sequences of actions, often involving multiple apps, to do things like create, find, and append to your Day One entries.
Note: This is different from Keyboard Shortcuts, which are key combinations (like Cmd+N for a new entry) used for quick actions within the app. If you are looking for information on Keyboard Shortcuts, please see our separate guide: Keyboard Shortcuts.
Shortcuts are now managed entirely in the Shortcuts app. These can work on their own to create, find, and append Day One entries or may be connected with other apps as well—details about using Shortcuts on Apple’s help site here.

User Shortcuts
Some users have created Shortcuts combining other apps to add data to their journals in Day One. Some of these may require additional services or other 3rd party apps. These are not officially supported by Day One.
