Users with the Basic account status can backup unlimited data from one device. This service requires signing into a Day One account in the Settings. Once signed in, data is backed up securely to Day One Sync while the app is opened.
- Create a Day One account
- Sign into Day One Sync
- Verify the encryption key is saved by going to Settings > Sync > Encryption Key
When starting Day One for the first time, users will be prompted to sign in to enable secure cloud backup.
Users can verify synced data anytime by signing into https://dayone.me in a web browser.
When transitioning to a new device, it is helpful to verify that data is synced by signing into the web app at https://dayone.me/ in web browser and comparing the entry/media counts under “All Entries” with what is on the device.
Then, sign into Day One on the new device to switch it to the Active device. When switching to the new device, tap the button to Move your journal (screen shot below). Switching the Active device may be done once per 30 days. Or, unlock Sync on all devices by subscribing to Premium.
