Today view
Today view brings together entries created on a specific date plus allows users to create new entries using information from various sources
Today shows entries created on the current date and also includes data from sources like Photos, Calendars, and Location. The Today view is available in iOS, macOS, Android, Web app, and Windows app.
iOS
To access the Today view in the iOS app, you can either:
- Tap a date in the Calendar View
- Tap the date in the List View
Today view shows entries on the current date, plus other information including Photos taken on this date, Calendar events, Location data, and On This Day. Entries on the current date can be shown or hidden by tapping the arrow next to “Entries”. A new, blank entry can be created on the selected date by tapping the + icon at the top left of Today view. Navigate to different dates by swiping left or right, or by tapping the arrows near the date at the top of Today view.
Enabling access to Photos, Places, and Events
If you haven’t yet given Day One permission to access Photos, Places, and Events, the Today view will show an ‘Enable’ option for each of them. Tapping ‘Enable’ will take you to the relevant privacy settings on your iOS device to allow Day One full access to the relevant data. (Note: There is no way to remove the Photos, Places, and Events sections from the Today view entirely).
- Tap Photos to open the media picker and select media to add to a new entry.
- Tap Places to show options to create entries from recent locations. Tapping the map allows you to create an entry using a recent location. You can also add a Day Summary here which will add all locations into an entry for you. Locations can also be customized with a unique name.
- Tap Events to create entries using calendar events from connected accounts in the device Settings.
- Tap Calendar to be able to add any calendar from your iPhone to Day One.
- You can also add health information

If the date is not shown in List View, change sort order to Entry Date.
macOS
To access the Today view in the macOS app, you can either:
- Click “Today” in the journal sidebar
- Tap the date in the List View
The list of entries on that date can be collapsed by clicking the arrow where it shows how many entries.

Below that, Places and Photos will appear as options to be used in new entries.

You can also connect your calendar to show Events in the Today view as described below. The Mac app does not offer the option to add individual calendars; it will show all your calendars.

Android
To access the Today view in the Android app, tap a date in the Calendar View.

Tap Open Entries to show all entries for the selected date only.
Tap View On This Day to display entries created on the selected date and the same calendar day in previous years.
You can move through different days by clicking the < or > arrows next to the date at the top.
Web
To access the Today view in the web app, tap “Today” in the sidebar.

- Entries shows all entries for the selected date. Click Entries to expand the list.
- On This Day displays entries created on the same calendar day in previous years.
Click On This Day to reveal your entries. Here, you can scroll through entries from past years in reverse-chronological order.

You can move through different days by clicking the < or > arrows next to the date at the top. Tapping directly on the date will open a calendar, allowing you to jump to any date.
