Automatic Text-only backups to iCloud for Day One iOS

How to enable automatic, text-only backups to iCloud for Day One iOS

Day One includes an automatic text-only backup option to iCloud, available to all users (Basic, Plus, and Premium). This setting is enabled by default for Basic users. Plus and Premium users will need to enable manually, if desired. These backups are encrypted on iCloud. Please note that these backups are contingent on the available space on the iCloud account.

These backups are not visible in your iPhone’s iCloud Storage settings. You will not find them by going to Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage. They can only be accessed and restored from within the Day One app.

To restore from a text-only iCloud backup, open Day One and go to Day One > Settings > Import/Export > Import Text-Only Backups.

When importing one of these backups, media is not restored. These are text-only.

Please note that text-only imports don’t overwrite your existing content. Instead, they’ll always be added as new journals.

For other import options please check out our full guide to data imports in Day One.
