Locating a Journal ID
How to locate a Journal ID for support purposes.
iOS
Go to Day One > Settings > Journals > tap the Journal for which you need to locate the ID > Advanced > Journal ID. Tap the journal ID to copy it to the clipboard.
macOS
Go to Day One > Preferences > Journals > click the “i” icon to the right of the journal. Locate the journal ID at the bottom left of the journal information details.
Android
Go to Day One > Settings > Journals > click the Journal you want. Locate the journal ID at the bottom of the journal information details.
Web and Windows App
The Windows app runs the same interface as the web app, so these steps are identical in both. There are two ways to get a journal ID here: copy the journal’s link from its menu, or read it from your browser’s address bar.
Copy the journal URL
Use this when you want to copy a link to a journal (also called the journal URL or journal link) to paste somewhere else.
- Right-click the journal in the sidebar. You can also open the journal and click Edit Journal at the top of the journal cover.
- Click Copy Journal URL. A “Journal URL copied to clipboard” message confirms it worked.
- Paste the link wherever you need it. It looks like
https://dayone.me/journals/100234567890, and the part after/journals/is the journal ID.
This option is available for every journal you can see, including shared journals you were invited to.
A journal URL is a private link, not a public one. It only opens for people who are already signed in to Day One and already have access to that journal, and it does not invite anyone to a shared journal. To invite someone to a shared journal, use the Add Members invite link in the journal’s settings instead.
Find the journal ID in the address bar
Go to dayone.me > select a journal > look at the URL at the top of your browser. You’ll see a number at the end, like in this example: https://dayone.me/journals/100234567890. That number is your journal ID — in this case, it’s 100234567890.
