You only need one Day One Premium subscription for all your personal devices, and you can subscribe from one of the following platforms:
- Apple App Store using iOS and Mac devices
- Google Play Store using Android devices
- Directly from the Day One website/web app at https://dayone.me/settings
This article shows you how to manage your subscription, including how to cancel it and receive a refund.
Cancellations
Cancelling a Free Trial
If you signed up for a free trial of Day One Premium and don’t wish to be charged for a subscription, please make sure to cancel the trial at least 24 hours before the trial period ends.
Cancelling a Subscription
If you cancel a subscription, you can continue enjoying Day One Premium features until the end of the billing period you have already paid for.
For example, if you paid for an annual subscription on May 2023 and cancelled the subscription on June 2023:
- You will still have access to Day One Premium until May 2024
- The subscription will not automatically renew on May 2024
For more information, please refer to our guide: What happens if my Premium subscription expires or is canceled?
Automatic Renewals
Most subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel them. If you had a trial month, then your subscription will renew after 13 months from the time you signed up for your trial.
Refunds
The steps to request a refund will depend on where you purchased your subscription. If you’re not sure where you purchased Day One Premium please message us in the app from Settings> Support with your User ID so we can assist you further.
How to request a refund
Apple App Store purchases: Go to http://reportaproblem.apple.com/ to initiate that process. You may also need to call 1-800-MY-APPLE. Refunds are subject to Apple’s terms and conditions.
Google Play purchases: Go to https://support.google.com/googleplay/workflow/9813244?hl=en to start that refund process.
If you purchased a subscription directly through us, please message us in the app from Settings> Support with your receipt number and User ID so we can assist you with that refund.
Managing Your Day One Premium Subscription
You can manage your Day One Premium Subscription on the platform you bought (e.g., App Store, Google Play Store, Day One Web/Stripe).
Your subscription will be subject to the terms of service and refund policies of the platform you bought Day One Premium from.
Apple App Store
You can use either an iOS or Mac device to purchase Day One Premium through the Apple App Store. Your subscription can subsequently be viewed, changed, or cancelled only through the Apple App Store.
Apple does not provide partial refunds, and you can refer to their policies on cancellations and refunds in the following guides they provide:
- If you want to cancel a subscription from Apple
- Request a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple
Managing App Store Subscription from the iOS Day One App
To manage your subscriptions from the iOS app, you can follow these steps:
- Tap your profile picture on the top right corner to open Settings.

To view your Day One Premium subscription using an iPad or iPhone, follow these steps:
- Open the App Store app on your iOS device
- Tap your profile picture at the top right
- Tap Subscriptions
- Locate Day One
If you canceled your subscription so that it does not automatically renew, you’ll know that cancellation was successful if you see an expiration date on your subscription.
If you see a renewal date on your subscription, your subscription will automatically renew unless it is canceled 24 hours prior to renewal. If the subscription is active, you will see an option to cancel it. If it is pending expiration, tapping Renew will allow you to restart it.

The above example shows a user who paid 55.99 AUD for a yearly Premium subscription and then cancelled. In this case, the renewal of the subscription cancelled, and the subscription remains active until the end of the subscription period, Dec 24th.
NOTE: If a Premium user does not have a Day One account (using the app without creating an account), they will still see the above subscription management option. Apple displays their subscription information even without a Day One account.

FAQ
Can I transfer my subscription with Apple to another Apple ID?
Apple doesn’t support transferring subscriptions among Apple IDs. To change the Apple ID associated with the subscription, the only way is to cancel the subscription on the current Apple ID and resubscribe it again with the new Apple ID before the end of the subscription period.
To ensure minimal disruption to your Day One Premium subscription and make sure you can access your data on Day One when you change to the new Apple ID, please follow these steps closely:
- If you sign in to your Day One account with your current Apple ID, please add an email address (preferably your new Apple ID email address) and a password to your account. If you sign in with an email address and password, please verify the email address is correct.
- Cancel the Day One Premium subscription associated with your current Apple ID. The Day One Premium subscription will be active through the expiry date.
- Capture a screenshot showing the expiry date of the Day One Premium subscription under your current Apple ID.
- Contact us and send us the screenshot you’ve captured in the previous step. We will add the remaining subscription period to your account and advise you of the next steps.
Can I transfer my subscription between Apple and Android?
The Apple App store and Google Play store don’t support transferring subscriptions in this way. The only way to change from one to the other would be to cancel the current subscription, let it expire, and then resubscribe again where preferred.
You can also subscribe through our web app as well to avoid having to switch between Google Play and Apple App Store when you switch devices.
I’m changing my Apple/App Store region. How can I move my Day One subscription to the new region?
Apple doesn’t support transferring subscriptions among Apple IDs and App Store regions. If you move to another country and need to change the region of your Apple ID, you’ll want to cancel the subscription under the current region and resubscribe to Day One Premium again in the new App Store region before the end of the subscription period.
After you’ve canceled the subscription, please capture a screenshot showing the expiry date of the Day One Premium subscription and contact us with the screenshot. We will manually adjust your account to ensure Premium is active throughout the period. Then, you can resubscribe to Day One Premium again on the new App Store region on or before the end of the subscription period.
We also highly recommend that you add an email address and password to your Day One account if you normally sign in with your Apple ID in case you have trouble accessing your Apple ID after switching regions.
How can I change my credit card information?
While logged in to your account on https://dayone.me/, click on “Settings.” Under “Account,” you should then have options to manage your subscription, including changing your credit card information if your subscription was made through our web app/Stripe.
If your subscription was made either through the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, you will need to change your credit card information from their end.
I signed up for a free month’s trial on an annual plan. When will I be billed next?
When you sign up for Day One using one of the free month trials we offer you will be billed at the end of your trial month. Your plan will renew 1 year after that date. This is 12 months from when you are charged, but 13 months from when you sign up. After that, your plan will renew as usual every 12 months. If you have already signed up for Day One Premium previously, then sign up no free month will be given a 2nd time and you will be charged immediately.
